Building Our Homestead on Faith: A Journey of Resilience and Hope

We are Jo and Eric, and together with our autistic daughter Jessi, we are a Christian family who have embraced off-grid living as a way of life. Our journey began when wildfires displaced us and led us to spend time in a shelter—a pivotal moment that inspired us to invest directly in our dream property. With the type of loan we have, the property must be fully paid off before we move in, and we are only $8,000 away from securing the foundation for our future home.

Our story is one of remarkable resilience and faith. In 2016, Eric sustained a serious accident falling from a ladder. His doctor warned that many people with his injury would never walk again; however, by God’s grace, he perseveres and now works two jobs to support our family. I face my own health challenges that keep me from working outside the home, and these experiences have shaped our journey and deepened our faith.

Eric’s mother, who has bravely battled cancer and lives with MS, currently resides in Texas, and her situation has become a key motivating factor in our efforts. Under our original plan, it would have taken us another 2+ years to pay off our loan. But with her being displaced from her home and facing ongoing health challenges as she ages, we feel compelled to accelerate our timeline so that she can be with family and receive the care she needs. We ask for your prayers alongside any financial support, trusting that God will guide us through this urgent chapter.

We invite you to join us on this transformative journey. Come see us every day @DailyDoseofGodwithJo on YouTube for biblical insights, and look forward to our upcoming dedicated channel where every conversation, every build, and every moment of this journey will be shared as we document the creation of our homestead.

Thank you for your prayers, your support, and any help you can give as we strive to build a home where faith, family, and hope lead the way.

All donations go directly toward paying off our land and building our homestead. Contributions are voluntary and non-refundable. We are not a registered nonprofit, so donations are not tax-deductible. Thank you for your generosity and support!
